I don't know that I've ever had runner beans, but I've had courgettes and lots of other green beans. The recipe sounds delightful. I'm also relieved that you weren't forced to eat your vegetables; too often people torture kids with performative behaviors that they themselves could never do. My younger brothers are the same way, you couldn't have made a bargain that would get them to eat vegetables as children, now, they're vegans. Hah.
